Employee Spotlight: Erika Tarr
This quarter’s employee spotlight is shinning on Erika Tarr. Erika has spent the better part of the last decade engrossed in food safety. Her personal experience combined with her educational training makes her the perfect fit for ACFSQ/DFA and the SCTC. Erika began working with the ACFSQ/DFA and SCTC in November of 2008. She currently serves as a food safety auditor with ACFSQ and the program manager for SCTC. Her main responsibilities include conducting GMP, HACCP and GMA-SAFE audits for members and non-members in the Central Valley; providing technical services support for ACFSQ with regards to HACCP, food safety, GMP, and pest control; and negotiating ocean carrier shipping rates and facilitate shipping contracts for SCTC members. When asked her reaction to being featured in the employee spotlight Erika said, “I am so thankful to be working for ACFSQ / SCTC and the members within both organizations are wonderful. I’ve never worked with a better group of people that are so caring and generous. When people ask what I do, I always tell them it’s an interesting mix between the two jobs. I truly enjoy working in food safety and transportation and strive to learn something new each day.” Prior to her position with the ACFSQ/DFA and SCTC, Erika worked as the Director of Quality Assurance / Food Safety, with the largest beef processor on the West Coast- Harris Ranch Beef Co. Erika graduated from California State University, Fresno in 1997 with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science / Production Management. She is a certified HACCP Manager and GMA-SAFE Auditor. This April she will be attending a BRC Auditor course and will take an exam to become a certified BRC Auditor. In her spare time, Erika enjoys traveling, walking / hiking, golfing and playing with her two dogs. To contact Erika, please e-mail her at erikat@agfoodsafety.org. |
